. We strongly believe in never discounting labor. We have some of the best mechanics in NYC, whose expertise is worth the same now as it is in June (probably more so). Our amazing staff is what keeps us relevant in the face of the internet, so undercutting their worth never made sense to us.
With labor discounts, customers are then conditions to ask for/expect discounts, and the race to the bottom is on.
We actually raise our rates at this time of year. I have a friend who owns a shop in California, who says that unless 10% of customers are complaining about price, you're not charging enough.
