Women's Class 01: Bike Demystification, Basic Maintenance, and Flat Fixing
Get to know a little more about your machine in this hands-on introductory workshop, and walk away feeling more self-sufficient. This class will cover routine bike maintenance, the tools you should never leave home without, and how to fix a flat, with plenty of time to ask questions.
About the Instructor:
Where bicycles are concerned, Meredith's heart is in the liberating power of the riding, and working on, of all types of bikes for all types of people, on any surface and in any weather. She teaches project-based mathematics at a public high school in Manhattan for recent immigrants, where she also facilitates an after-school bike mechanics and cycling program.

2nd Annual City Slicker Race
718 Cyclery in Gowanus is dear to our hearts. For the past few years 718 has been an asset to the cycling community. From shop rides to races to classes 718 has gone above and beyond what we expect from a local bike shop. But a bike is only as enjoyable as the road or trail you ride it on.
That’s why 718 Cyclery is collaborating with us on our new Bike Shop Membership Partner program. As a proud supporter of Transportation Alternatives and safe streets, 718 Cyclery will now be offering a free year of TransAlt membership with every bicycle purchased. Awesome!
To celebrate, we’re having an event on Wednesday, November 16th at 7 pm. We’ll have Brooklyn Brewery beer, snacks, and a presentation on winter cycling and "#bikenyc in 2016. To sweeten the pot, anyone who joins as a TransAlt member at the event will be entered into raffle to win a Blaze Laser Light.
Please RSVP here for the event, as space is limited.
Our next shop ride will be August 20th, 2016. We will leave from 718 Cyclery (254 3rd Ave, Brooklyn) at 7am Sharp, arriving in time for the 8:15am Sea Streak Ferry at Wall Street. Tickets are $51 for round trip (includes bike pass).
Bring a lunch. We will plan to catch the 3:45 Ferry back to Wall Street, but riders can make their own schedule.
If you would like to use one of our demo fleet mountain bikes for free, please indicate in the form here
Pretty Damned Fast and 718 Cyclery present the 1st Annual Women's Off-Road Jam on July 24, 2016 at Cunningham Park in Queens, NYC. The goal of this event is to welcome new riders into the world of off-road cycling through a free coached clinic and skills drills taught by female coaches, as well as provide a place for intermediate and advanced riders to have a blast on the trails, mentor new riders, and show off their skills.
Please join us on June 1st at 7pm at 718 Cyclery for the launch and planning meeting for women, female identifying and gender non-conforming people who are interested in adventure cycling and programming!
At the meeting, we will make connections, share ideas and create some plans to get out and about this summer!
Please join us for our Summer Tour Meeting on Monday May 23rd at 7pm at 718 Cyclery. We need to determine who will be attending, and will be asking for a deposit shortly to cover shared transportation costs and insurance.

NYC-ADV'ers, temps are sub zero and we're all just staring longingly at our bikes. That said, your loving founders have organized a happy hour so everyone can get together, meet, plan future rides, imbibe, and mingle.
Our friends at Givers and Takers have been kind enough to play host. Not only that, they've offered happy hour pricing throughout the event. According to the interwebs, Givers and Takers is a "mellow haunt that serves cocktails, brews & wines amid exposed brick walls & an old-school feel". We just think it's a rad bar, run by rad people. Not to mention it's a block down from 718 Cyclery, our home base.
As referenced above, there will be drink specials for NYC-ADV members. Also, expect occasional give-aways from group sponsors. If all goes well, we will be extend indefinitely every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. This will give members a recurring opportunity to hang with like-minded bicycle enthusiasts, tourers, adventurers, and travelers.
Come one, come all... let's meetup!
