I taught myself how to build wheels by reading the masters (Brown, Schraener, Brandt et al.)..after reading, I built alot of wheels. There are many hotshot videos on Youtube that cover the topic, but there is no substitute than learning in an environment that was set up to be collaborative in everything we do.

We run our class in 2 consecutive sessions.  The class size is limited to 6.

1. Class 1 is a demonstration session. We discuss the ideas behind how a wheel holds together, as well as component selection and finally lacing and truing techniques
2. Class 2 is the hands-on session (Class 1 is a prerequisite). This session involves the students building a wheel, using knowledge gained in Class 1 as well as through focused instruction in a small group. materials (rim, hub, spokes, nipples, books) are available for purchase at a 10% discount for class members.
